This technology uses cameras to capture the image of a permanent cathode in motion. This image is processed to determine the quality of both the plastic edge strips.
This information is helpful for stripping of copper cathode, because the problems at the edge (nodes, damaged plastics edges, etc.) interrupts the normal operation of the stripping machines, causing productivity losses and damage to the mechanisms.
Depending on the quality of the plastic edges, different actions could be taken, for example, not performing the stripping sequence or removing the permanent cathode of the line.
This technology technology has already been installed in:
- Minera Spence, Calama. Two systems on an ISA Process type stripping machine. Production speed is 500 permanent cathodes per hour.
