In order to see Aplik’s work firsthand, the Minister of Economy, Felix de Vicente, with the Regional Director of CORFO, Victor Fuentes, visited the company and shared with their staff. Guillermo Vidal, CEO and founding partner of the firm, showed the authorities one of the latest mining solutions created by the company.
Aplik, in its constant search for innovation opportunities, has developed a product for the remote monitoring of heap leach pads that eliminates the operator’s exposure to risk. The system provides a map showing the distribution of water on the heap leach pad. This map allows operators to take corrective actions in a timely manner. Reports show metrics for each sub-section of the pad, including both current status and the evolution of key indicators such as percent watered area, percent of areas without watering and irrigation uniformity.
Pampa Norte mine received an HSEC Award from BHP Billiton, for its contribution to the safety of workers. This award was presented in Australia for this project and other projects from around the world that made HSEC contributions to mining.
This is great news for the Chilean mining industry because this development reduces the overall risk of exposure to hazardous substances and ground failures. This product and other innovations are being prepared for exporting.
On this occasion the Economy Minister congratulated the team for the world-class achievement. “I am excited to visit a Chilean company that is delivering science, innovation, value. If Chile wants to be a developed country, it needs to generate value in what we are doing. Aplik is a company that is giving value and innovation to the things we are doing as a country, especially with activities and services related to mining”.
