In recognition of the management developed this year in technology research, the Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO), gave, in the “SME Week” context the “Innovation Award” to Aplik. The ceremony honored small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through its activity have contributed to economic growth and development for the country.
The award was presented at the Marina del Rey Hotel at Viña del Mar, attended by more than 100 employers in the region and national and regional authorities. Those present included the presence of the Provincial Governor, Pablo Zúñiga, Senator, Francisco Chahuán, Undersecretary of Minister Maria Eugenia de la Fuente, Corfo Corporate Manager, Matías Acevedo and Economy Secretary, Mauricio Silva.
During the ceremony three regional businesses were honored in the following categories: Women Entrepreneurs, Entrepreneur of the Year and Innovative SMEs, in this last category the founding partner of Aplik, Guillermo Vidal, received the award. “In 2001 four engineers got together and saw the areas that needed development and decided to take this path, we are now a group of 18 people working on innovation, which is an honor for us as entrepreneurs¨.
This survey was supported by an external jury composed of eminent regional personalities, public and private, who evaluated the cases preselected for each of the categories. Among this panel of guests, stands the President of the SMEs Federation, Yanira Lopez, Project Area Head and Chamber of Commerce Valparaiso, Ignacio Andrada, among other employers of the region.
Currently, many Aplik projects has been acquired by national and international mining companies, indicating a high valuation of the industry of products and technologies developed in Viña del Mar. Some of the main clients are Escondida Mining, Spence Mining, Cerro Colorado Company, Xstrata Technology and University Federico Santa Maria, among others.
